RULES AND REGULATIONS
MISS MONTVILLE SCHOLARSHIP PAGEANT
2007
1. There will be three awarded positions as follows:
QUEEN
$1,000 Savings Bond, Sash, Crown and Trophy
FIRST RUNNER UP
$400 Savings Bond, Sash, Crown and Trophy
SECOND RUNNER UP
$200 Savings Bond, Sash, Crown and Trophy
MISS CONGELIALITY
$200 Savings Bond, Sash, Crown and Trophy
2. Judging will be based on the following categories:
a. Formal Wear
b. Casual Wear
c. Public Speaking
d. Interview
3. The Savings Bond will be given when the reign of the winners is complete, unless other arrangements are made. The reign will be for one year, beginning with the current pageant and ending with the following year’s Pageant.
4. The following events are Required attendance for the Queen and her Court. Failure to show will warrant losing your crown and title. They are as follows:
a. The
Montville Fair will be held on August 3, 4, & 5, 2007. You must attend all three days in your crown
and sash. You must be dressed
properly. No Jeans without permission.
b. Unless otherwise advised, you will attend the Montville Tree Lighting and Holiday Parade normally held the first weekend in December. You must wear something of a holiday theme, your crown and sash. You will be contacted regarding exact date at a later time.
c. Unless otherwise advised, you will attend the Montville Memorial Day Parade held in May. A dress is required along with your crown and sash. You will be contacted regarding exact date.
d. The Queen will return the following year to give up her reign. She will help crown the Little Miss Montville, if there is one for that year.
e. Montville Fair, Inc can request other functions of the Queen and her Court, however, it will be based on availability of the winners.
f. If, at any time, a required attendance is not possible due to a health issue, a medical doctor’s letter will be submitted to the Montville Fair, Inc.
5. If the Queen is unable to fulfill her duties or obligations (unless other arrangements are agreed upon by the Executive Committee), the First Runner-up will then take the position along with the entitled awards.
6. Montville Fair, Inc. has the right to judge the acceptability of the winner through her term.
a. You must notify the Pageant Superintendent if, at any time, you cannot complete your reign.
b. The Queen and her Court must remain in a full time accredited education program.
c. According to federal law, it is illegal for anyone under the age of 21 to consume alcohol.
d. According to federal law, it is illegal to partake in the usage of illegal drugs.
e. According to the State of CT. law, it is illegal to smoke under the age of 18. If you are 18 and do smoke, you will, at no time, smoke while representing your reign in any way or on Fair Grounds.
f. If any of the above laws are broken by the Queen or her Court during their reign, Montville Fair Executive Committee will have the right to remove said person from her reign and she will forfeit all awards and gifts.
g. Your
Crown and Sash are to be worn at all events sponsored by Montville Fair Inc.
that you attend, as required in Section 4.
h. NO EXCESSIVE JEWELRY, I.E. FACIAL
JEWELRY, EXCESSIVE EARRINGS, ETC.
i.
NO inappropriate
language or unsuitable behavior while representing your reign in The Miss
Montville Scholarship Pageant will be tolerated.
j.
This Pageant is open to girls, ages 14-18 years of age (see
note #5 below).
k. The
Crown and the Sash are the property of Montville Fair, Inc. until your reign is
up. If it is lost or broken, you are
required to replace it at your own cost...

APPLICATION IS ENCLOSED IN A SEALED ENVELOPE AND DIRECTED TO THE MONTVILLE
FAIR.

ENTRY APPLICATION
I hereby apply for entry as a contestant in the “Miss Montville Scholarship Pageant”, a duly authorized pageant in the Town of Montville. The finals are to be conducted in Montville, Connecticut during August of 2007. By applying as an entry, I do hereby make the following statements:
1. I am a citizen of the United States of America and a resident of the Town of Montville in the State of Connecticut and will remain such throughout my participation in the “Miss Montville Scholarship Pageant.”
2. I have always been a female.
3. I have never been married or bore a child.
4. I will be no older than 18 years of age and a student in technical, private or public high school, a recognized Home Schooled atmosphere (state approved paperwork required) or in an accredited College on the first day of the month that the pageant is held.
5. I will be no younger than the age of 14 and a student in a junior or senior high school, private or technical school or a recognized Home Schooled atmosphere (state approved paperwork required) on the first day of the month that the pageant is held.
6. I am of good moral character, have never been pregnant and am not pregnant now, and have never been involved at any time in any act of moral turpitude.
7. I have never been convicted of any crime and do not have any criminal charge(s) pending against me.
8. I have never performed any act or engaged in any activity that is or could be characterized as dishonest, immoral, immodest, indecent or in bad taste.
9. I agree to participate in all the events leading up to the final selection of the “Miss Montville Scholarship Pageant”, and am bound by the rules and regulations governing the finals of the “Miss Montville Scholarship Pageant” and awarding and supervision of “Montville Fair, Inc. Executive Board”. It is understood that I will participate in all public appearances required of me by pageant Officials including, but not limited to, my appearance and/or participation in television and radio broadcast, personal appearances, interviews, still photos, videos and audio tapes or motion picture film of all or any part of the events connected with the finals.
10. I do hereby authorize the “Miss Montville Scholarship Pageant” and anyone duly licensed or authorized by it, to televise, broadcast, photograph and/or make radio, television, video and audiotapes, or motion picture recordings of me, individually or in a group. These may be used for promotion, including but not limited to the events leading up to the selection of “Miss Montville” and become the use of the “Miss Montville Scholarship Pageant”. This provision shall specifically survive termination of this contract.
11. I agree that the manner and method of conducting the finals of the “Miss Montville Scholarship Pageant” shall be in the discretion of the Montville Fair, Inc. Executive Board and the “Miss Montville Scholarship Pageant” Committee. I further agree that the time, method and manner of judging the finals of the “Miss Montville Scholarship Pageant” and the awards and supervision of the “Miss Montville Scholarship Pageant” shall be within the sole discretion of the “Miss Montville Scholarship Pageant” Committee. The decision of the persons designated to judge the various events, in any and all matters pertaining to the selection of the winners, shall be final.
12. If I am selected as the winner and holder of the title of “Miss Montville”, I agree that during the entire period of my year of service, I will not associate with or in any way promote, have not been, nor will I become either directly or indirectly, a contestant or participant in any other competition. I further agree that my failure to keep and perform the previously stated duties regarding The Miss Montville Scholarship Pageant, including abiding by all the previously stated rules and regulations governed by the Montville Fair, Inc. Executive Board will terminate my present title. I understand that I may be required, in such event, to forfeit all prizes and awards from whoever granted or received.
13. If I am selected a winner of the Miss Montville Scholarship Pageant” I will serve until my successor is selected or appointed.
14. I understand that the pageant shall have the right to choose and designate my chaperon and traveling companion, if any is needed, during the year at the time I am crowned.
15. I will make myself available for such personal appearances, interviews, testimonials, endorsements, filming, taping, photographic, recording sessions, and such other and various commitments and events that the pageant has made and will make for me.
16. I agree that my services are extraordinary and unique. I agree that there is no adequate remedy at law for a breach of this contract by me, and in the event of such a breach or attempted or threatened breach, the pageant will be entitled to equitable relief by way of injunction or otherwise.
17. I understand and agree that if I suffer any disability, which, in the sole and exclusive judgment of the pageant, impairs my ability to perform the duties expected of me as “Miss Montville” that the Pageant Committee may, at its exclusive option, terminate my right to participate in the Pageant, as well as my right to the title of “Miss Montville” and all awards and gifts pertaining thereto.
18. I understand and agree that in the event that I marry during the period between the date of this contract and the selection of “Miss Montville”, I forfeit that right to participate in the Pageant finals. If I am selected and I marry prior to the time my successor is chosen and crowned, the Pageant may, at its discretion and at its option, forfeit my title and prizes and awards. And, in this event, the front runner-up will be declared my successor.
19. If I am selected as first or second runner-up to the title of “Miss Montville”, I agree to be available to succeed to all of the rights and assume all of the duties and obligations of “Miss Montville”, as set forth herein, if, for any reason, the original “Miss Montville” or the prior runner-up are unable or ineligible to as act “Miss Montville”.
20. I understand that the grant of the scholarship bond is subject to the terms and conditions of the agreement and by signing the contract, I agree to be bound by such rules and regulations. I understand that all scholarship bonds, which I may be award, will be non-transferable or non-forgettable. In the event I breach this contract or fail to perform in the entirety any duties which I may have as “Miss Montville” will be forfeited in the event I have made any misrepresentations as to my eligibility to compete.
21. I understand that should I be suspended or quit the junior or senior high school that I am now attending (with no further enrollment into another school of same nature in the Town of Montville or acceptable location (I.E. Williams School, Norwich Regional Vocational Technical or Ella Grasso Vocational Technical School), or, if in college, get suspended or terminated from said college, I shall forfeit my reign as “Miss Montville” or any other position that I may hold in the Pageant and will forfeit all prizes and awards.

I also understand that there will be no scholarship awarded to her, which she would normally receive at the end of her reign, had it been completed properly.
